Starting at Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) at 4:15am, we started hiking to Annapurna Base Camp in the crisp morning air. Walking through snow and negotiating the icy landscape was a challenge with only our headlamps and the bright moon lighting our way. There wasn’t a sound to be heard other than the gurgling of the rivers flowing beneath the frozen ice under our feet. We reached the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) just as the sky was beginning to grow bright and waited in awe as the sun came over the peaks of the Annapurna Massif.
