Hey, hey! Are you concentrating on this? Constantly staring out the window, reminiscing on that trip to Vietnam and always thinking of where you’d rather be; yes my fried, you have an addiction… a travel addiction.

2. Travel Documentaries Excite You

Flying From Bangkok to London

You watch a documentary about another city, country or planet and your instant reaction is; “I want to travel there… NOW!” Of course it doesn’t matter if it’s actually feasible. Let the Googling begin.

3. Your Facebook Is All Travel

Scrolling through your Facebook feed is like going on an around the world tour. Your newsfeed is packed full of travel blogs, travel websites and friends who are already on the road, begging you to come join them.

4. Commitment Scares You

Being in the same place day after day is as frightening to you as Skyscanner crashing. Committing to just about anything for more than a few months is like asking you to cut off your arm, you need change. The only thing travel addicts can commit to is travel – fact!

5. You’re Always Planning The Next Trip

Every bit of downtime you have you search travel blogs, read travel forums and research your next adventure. Your browser is an endless list of tabs on an endless list of locations, just waiting to be read and let’s not get started on that bookmarks bar.

6. You Love Getting Lost

Most people don’t like getting lost; they feel uncomfortable and uncertain not knowing where they are. But you, you love it! Arriving in a new city not knowing which way is which excites you. Not knowing what’s around the next corner keeps you on your toes and that’s how you like it.

7. Your Home Is A Trinket Shop

Your friends aren’t too sure what to make of your décor. Shelves are packed with little trinkets from around the world; a wooden mask from Fiji, a carpet from Morocco, a shell from Hawaii, a painting from Indonesia. It may be the strangest collection of odds and ends from around the globe but you wouldn’t have it any other way.

8. You Can Sleep Anywhere

Moving around as much as you do, you have no doubt developed the superhuman ability to sleep anywhere. Couches, floors, train stations and airports are just the beginning. Getting a few hours kip on a rickety chicken bus, crashing out on the deck of a ferry or falling asleep on a dawn boat trip, it’s all part of the travel lifestyle!

9. Google Maps Is Your Porn

Google maps and an hour to yourself, that’s all you need for a good time. Planning your way through Eastern Europe, figuring out how to get from Dehli to Rishikesh, justifying relocating to Portugal, searching for the best hikes, …. better make that two hours.

10. Your Stories Are All Travel Related

Every story starts with “When I was in…”- sound familiar? You’re not place-dropping, this is just the reality of your life. Moving around as much as you do your stories belong to the places you’ve been. It’s not all you have to talk about but it is a lot of it.

11. ‘Stuff’ Is Worthless To You

A good backpack and comfortable shoes are your most prized possessions. You would rather spend your money on a month in Thailand, than on a new TV. Trekking in Nepal takes precedent over upgrading your car. For you life is more about gaining a wealth of experiences, not about gaining wealth- other than that collection of trinkets of course!

Does any of the above sound familiar? Do you have an addiction that only an unfamiliar place can cure? Are you addicted to travel? Let us know in the comments below.
